In case it slipped by you, on January 31 Global Cyber War II was initiated.

You may be wondering when was Global Cyber War I. Well the GCW-1 occurred back in 2013 when Anonymous declared a cyber war (as a protest against the NSA surveillance aka spying) activities and the imprisonment of Jeremy Hammond, a cyber activist. You can listen/view the full message at the following YouTube. Click here.

I inquired about the impact of GCW-1 and one inside source said it was hardly noticeable given all the other hostile cyber activities and crimes that were taking place during that same period.

Then came GCW-II. Anonymous stated that for months they have been monitoring the revelations by Edward Snowden and posts on the website WikiLeaks about Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and those were the reasons used to justify their actions.

In their message they delared "Operation NSA, Operation TPP, Operation Last Resort – ENGAGED! We are Anonymous. We are Legion. We do not forgive. We do not forget. To the United States Government, expect us, signed Anonymous."

You can listed/view the full message at YouTube here.

It should be noted that back in January of this year Anonymous also declared cyber war against Islamic militants, as they did against Israel back in 2012.

Late last week Anonymous posted a video called World War III on the Horizon. However, this time, no mention of cyber in their message. Some expect that the group will declare Cyber World War III shortly and are quick to point out that like all their previous declarations of cyber war we may not notice. I was always told – NEVER EVER UNDERESTIMATE AN OPPONENT. Let's all hope that is not what is happening in the case of Anonymous!
